Bedford Town of Bedford Distance to NYC: 45 miles Area: 39.3 square miles The town of Bedford is located about 16 miles north of White Plains, 45 miles north of mid-Manhattan, in the northern part of Westchester and includes the village of Bedford, Bedford Hills, and Katonah. A community often referred to as the "Getaway to New England", Bedford celebrated with great pomp and pride, it's 300th birthday in June 1980, with a Tricentennial Celebration unmatched in spirit and community participation. The Village Green - the heart of Bedford - is an unspoiled center of activity combining homes, churches and shops, gracefully interwoven around a triangle of common green space.
