  Chappaqua

Village of Chappaqua

Distance to NYC: 31 miles
Area: 25.5 square miles

Chappaqua is a village in the Town of New Castle, which also includes the Village of Millwood. It is located 9 miles north of White Plains, and is 31 miles from mid-Manhattan.

A feeling of privacy is easily maintained in this well planned residential community. The beauty of natural lakes and rolling, wooded hills gives Chappaqua all the charm of a New England Village.

The comfortable Manhattan commute, the combination of sophistication and country flavor, and a lively schedule of cultural events and activities all make Chappaqua one of Westchester's most popular communities.

Educational Facilities
The Chappaqua School District serves all of Chappaqua and Millwood, as well as small portions of Armonk, Pleasantville, Briarcliff Manor, Ossining and Mount Kisco. It has three elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.

Education is one of the most important aspects of life an Chappaqua. The District spends in excess of $18,000 per pupil, per year. Over 90% of the students graduating from Horace Greeley High School continue their education in college.

Recreational Facilities
Chappaqua offers something for everyone. There are 90 activities sponsored by the recreation commission alone. It is a suburb program with such events as ski trips, free summer day-camp, men's basketball and softball leagues, women's sports of all kinds and lighted public tennis courts. Walking trails are maintained in several areas of town and are quite varied.

Houses of Worship
Include Society of Friends (Quaker), St. Mary the Virgin (Episcopal), Community of the Reconciliation (Presbyterian), First Congregational Church of Christ, Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, St. John's & St. Mary's (Roman Catholic), Westchester Baptist Church, Temple Beth El (Reformed) and Bet Torah (Conservative).
