The city of Mount Vernon is an urban/suburban community located in the southern portion of Westchester County. Mount Vernon consists of over 70,000 residents. With similar amenities, Mount Vernon is situated on Bronxville’s southern most border. The city has become increasingly popular with the buyers searching for a traditional, spacious co-op to luxury homes. Mount Vernon offers a broad selection of housing styles in an equally diverse setting of individual neighborhoods. Just south of Bronxville are Aubyn Manor, Huntswood, the Estate Area and Fleetwood. Mount Vernon continues south to include such neighborhoods as Oakwood Heights, Vernon Heights, Langdon Terrace and Kingsbridge Gardens which borders the Northeast section of the Bronx. The “village center” is a twenty six minute commute to Grand Central Terminal.

Long a traditional “move-up, move-down location, the majority of Mount Vernon houses are pre-war, solid 1920’s types featuring all of the charm and detail found in larger estate homes. located throughout southern Westchester at a fraction of the price.

Educational Facilities
The Mount Vernon public school system has 11 elementary schools, two middle schools and one comprehensive high school. The high school has both a strong academic program, and the most productive occupational education program in the county. Adult education programs are also available. There are also five parochial schools and one Montessori school. Considered one of the best libraries in the nation, is the Mount Vernon Public Library, also the main Library for all of Westchester County.

Recreational Facilities
A full time Department of Recreation furnishes recreational activities year round including baseball, softball, basketball, touch football, track, golf, tennis and handball. Numerous picnic grounds and playgrounds are located throughout the city. Mount Vernon also boasts a large swimming pool and the only athletic stadium in Westchester County.

All religious faiths are represented by churches, temples, synagogues and mosques.
