Sleepy Hollow Village of Sleepy Hollow Distance to NYC: 26 miles Area: 2.25 square miles This beautiful village, steeped in folklore was immortalized by Washington Irving, author of Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Philipsburg Manor, a 1720 national landmark, forms a bridge to America’s past where granite millstones ground wheat into flour, a basic commodity in the Philips family international trading empire. Pocantico Hills’ Rockefeller Kykuit Estate is immediately to the east and residential neighborhoods of Philips Manor and Sleepy Hollow are located by the river. Sleepy Hollow has its own train station with parking which enables commuters to be in Grand Central Station in 38 minutes express. Beekman Avenue, former site of GM is being completely rebuilt, it will be the future home of stores, condos and restaurants. Phelps Hospital, associated with Sloan Kettering in NYC offers many services and includes Robin’s Nest Day Care Center.
